Dopo 3 lunghi anni di attesa e a 11 anni dall’ultima volta, l’Italia torna ad ospitare il Campo Estivo Internazionale per ragazzi disabili dell’Ordine di Malta (per tutti Maltacamp). La settimana di vacanza e volontariato richiamerà centinaia di giovani da tutto il mondo. Le coordinate sono: dal 30 luglio al 6 agosto presso, nel Monastero di San Vincenzo Martire a Bassano Romano (VT).
Circa 450 gli iscritti, tra staff, volontari e ospiti provenienti da oltre 22 paesi del mondo che si incontreranno per un campo estivo all’insegna del vivere insieme, del divertimento e della crescita personale e spirituale, guidati dal tema: “Seguitemi, vi farò pescatori di uomini” (Mt 4,19).
Per fare sì che tutto questo progetto prendesse forma, il Comitato Organizzatore, composto da giovani volontari dei tre Gran Priorati d’Italia, in collaborazione stretta con ACISMOM e con l’indispensabile supporto logistico del CISOM, si è prodigato negli ultimi tre anni nell’organizzare tutte le attività, le gite, i momenti spirituali, gli ospiti, l’alloggio così come ogni altro dettaglio di questa incredibile esperienza, il tutto in piena sicurezza logistica e sanitaria visti gli ultimi due complessi anni caratterizzati dalla pandemia.
Il Maltacamp 2022 sarà un evento pieno di attività sia interne al campo (come giochi, laboratori e spettacoli), sia di gite ed escursioni per conoscere alcune delle meraviglie dei dintorni come Castel Gandolfo, residenza estiva del Pontefice, il Colosseo, la Galleria Borghese, il Palazzo del Freddo, Cinecittà World e tante altre ancora nei dintorni di Roma e Viterbo. Martedì 2 agosto, l’intero gruppo del Maltacamp si ritroverà a Roma per la Messa Solenne in Vaticano, celebrata da S.E. Card. Silvano Maria Tomasi. Giovedì 4 agosto, i ragazzi passeranno la giornata a Tarquinia, nel Parco Avventura Riva dei Tarquini e avranno modo di farsi un bagno in mare sulla spiaggia adiacente.
Senza dimenticare le attività serali: dagli aperitivi agli happy hour internazionali dove ogni paese preparerà i suoi prodotti tipici fino alla discoteca con dj set: al Maltacamp non ci si ferma mai!
Il Maltacamp è sicuramente un’occasione per tutti di divertimento e di condivisione, da vivere insieme senza barriere, né fisiche né culturali, ma è anche una grande opportunità per avvicinarsi e provare a vivere davvero i valori della Fede Cristiana e dell’Ordine di Malta, valori di un’unica grande Famiglia.
Il countdown è partito: il 30 luglio 2022, il sogno del Maltacamp finalmente diventerà realtà.

After 3 long years of waiting and 11 years since the last time, Italy is back to host the Order of Malta’s International Summer Camp for young disabled people (aka Maltacamp). This week of holiday and volunteering will attract hundreds of young people from all over the world. The coordinaates are: from 30th of July until the 6th of August at the Monastery of San Vincenzo Martire in Bassano Romano (Viterbo, Italy).
About 450 participating members, including staff, volunteers and guests from over 22 countries around the world will meet for a summer camp dedicated to living a lifetime experience together, to fun and personal and spiritual growth, guided by the theme: “Follow me, I will make you fishers of men” (Mt 4,19).
To ensure that all this project took shape, the Organizing Committee, composed of young volunteers from the three Grand Priories of Italy, in close collaboration with ACISMOM and with the indispensable logistical support of CISOM, has been working for the last three years in organizing all the activities, the trips, the spiritual moments, the guests, the accommodation as well as every other detail of this incredible experience, all in full logistic and health security given the last two complex years characterized by the pandemic.
The Maltacamp 2022 will be an event full of activities both inside the campsite (such as games, workshops and shows), both trips and excursions to learn about some of the wonders of the surrounding area such as Castel Gandolfo, the Pope’s summer residence, the Colosseum, the Galleria Borghese, the Palazzo del Freddo, Cinecittà World and many other attractions around Rome and Viterbo. On Tuesday August 2nd, the whole group of Maltacamp will meet in Rome for the Solemn Mass in the Vatican, celebrated by H.E. Card. Silvano Maria Tomasi. Thursday August 4th, The participants will spend the day in Tarquinia, in the Adventure Park Riva dei Tarquini and will have the opportunity to take a swim in the sea on the beach nearby.
And we do not forget about the evening activities: from aperitivos to international happy hours where each country will prepare its typical products to the disco with DJ sets: Maltacamp is the camp that never stops!
Maltacamp is definitely an opportunity for everyone to have fun and share, to live together without barriers, neither physical nor cultural, but it is also a great opportunity to get closer and try to really live the values of the Christian Faith and the Order of Malta, values of a single great Family.
The countdown has started: on July 30, 2022, the dream of Maltacamp will finally come true.
